In order to understand what happened at Golgotha, one must first comprehend what took place legally in the fall in the Garden of Eden. According to Gen. 1:26, man was originally created and fashioned for authority. When he came from the hand of Yahweh, he was given the rulership of the earth, the kingship of its life and the control of its resources. The authority and dominion became legally his. What he did with it was his own responsibility. When he fumbled the ball, Yahweh though, the Most High could not arbitrarily step in and reposes it for him. That would have violated his moral principles of government. He had to follow the due process.
When Adam chose to obey Satan, he became Satan’s slave. “know you not that to whom you yield yourselves servant to obey, his slave you are” Rom. 6:16. As a slave of Satan, Adam lost all of his legal rights, not only to his person but also to his domain. This gave Satan legal authority to rule over man and all the earth. All the descendants of Adam were born into this slavery Gen. 5:1-3 Ps.51:5. If Satan’s dominion was to be revoked, a way had to be found to redeem fallen man and recover his lost authority without violating universal principles of justice. Yahweh had no right under his code of justice to arbitrarily annul it. No angel could enter the contest legally. A man of Adam’s race had to be found to wrest Adam’s lost heritage and dominion from Satan. It was lost by man and since Adam and his descendents were slaves to Satan, where could such a man be found? A slave has no legal standing and cannot enter court of justide or lawfully participate in litigation. A member of the human race had to be found upon whom Satan had no claim. One who had not endorsed Adam’s rebellion. Praise Yahweh, one was found __John 14: 30 1pet. 1:19. This was made possible through the virgin birth according to the manifold wisdom of Elohim. “When the fullness of time was come; Yahweh sent forth his Son made of a woman, made under the law to redeem them………… that we might receive the adoption of sons” Gal 4:4. 2cor. 5:14-19.
Yahoshea came as an authentic member of the human race Heb. 2 :10-17. But since he was conceived by the Holy Spirit and virgin born, Satan had no legal claim upon Him ”…..he has nothing in me” he said.
Satan wanted him to sin a single sin to bring him under himself but could not Heb. 4:15, 2cor. 5:21. This was the crux of the struggle between Yahoshea and that archfiend of darkness. All the destiny of the human race hung upon the outcome of that struggle. If he could seduce the Last Adam as he did the first, his rulership over the world and mankind would be forever secured. But praise be to Yahweh, he failed. The Lion of the tribe of Judah prevailed. Yahoshea conquered and gave us victory.
From Bethlehem to Golgotha, the conflict raged. Through thirty three and half years, the struggle continued in an undiminished fury. Satan fought him face to face in the wilderness. What he could not achieve in a direct fight, he thought to achieve through his own people, even the officers in the Temple. This battle reached an incredible intensity in the garden of Gethsemane. The demonic and satanic pressure was so devastating that he cried, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death” but the victory was won when he said “Oh my Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, let your will be done”.
“FATHER, LET YOUR WILL BE DONE” and that settled it all. He accepted the cup and the victory was won. The victory was won at Gethsemane but it manifested at Golgotha.
Satan in his effort to compel Yahoshea to rebel against His Father and transfer allegiance to himself pushed Yahoshea up to death. When the Son of Yahweh died, Satan was vanquished. When Yahoshea died without failing in the smallest detail, His death resulted not only in defeating Satan’s purpose to claim him, it also cancelled all of Satan’s legal claims upon the earth and human race. When a man commits murder, he becomes subject to death penalty. A convicted murderer forfeits his own life. This is how Satan became a murderer. He who had the power of death had slain his millions starting from Abel with immunity because they were his slaves. Now he has killed an innocent man upon whom he has no legal claim. What this means is that Satan has destroyed himself, though not annihilated, but all of his legal claims upon the earth and man are completely cancelled. Oh what a redemption. A person under final sentence of death has no legal rights whatsoever. Since the event at Golgotha, Satan has no legal right upon anyone or anything. Now that you have been born again through Faith in Yahoshea, this Victory is yours. Satan has no right over you.
With this knowledge, when next Satan crosses your way or tires to afflict you, resist and rebuke him and he will flee. This is the heritage of the saints, the sons of the second and last Adam.
