Where Are You Going?

(Why sit we here until we die?)
Before you begin this great success journey, be sure of where you are going. Busy doing what you are not supposed to do is worse than idleness. It leads to depletion instead of repletion; depreciation instead of appreciation; and retrogression instead of progression. Life is not doing what you want to do; real life is doing what you are supposed to do. Destiny is greater than desire. It was a mystery to the world that a person of so much ability as the Man of Galilee should spend His time and talent as He did, whereas, if he had turned his attention to politics, law, engineering, merchandise or join popular religion, he might have become great and respected. In the opinion of men he foolishly wasted His life, and they said he had a devil and was mad. To them, He was a failure. But He was not. Traveling at an appreciable speed is of no use when we are mal-directed. Your direction is more important than your speed. It is better to go slow in the right direction than to go fast in the wrong direction. So before you take off, sit down and draw your plan. Failing to plan is planning to fail. A man without a vision has no destination. Where there is no vision the people perish. The vision here does not refer to good eyesight or seeing the Holy one on His throne. It is seeing things with the eyes of the mind: Getting ideas, visualizing things ahead of time-planning and planning well. The vision means being able to identify the particular tree that will make the bitter water sweet. It means being able to see a pool of water in the desert. Yes, it means knowing that there is solution to every problem and finding it out. When this is done, the people will not perish but enjoy life. Having an aim is the key to achieving your best. What will football be without a goal-post? What is life without aspiration? Knowing where you are going and what you are going there to do are more important than getting there. Activity is not achievement. Many will get to the top of the ladder only to find out that it was leaning up against a wrong wall.
This explains the importance of planning. Poor planning produces poor performance. Being sure of your fact before taking action may delay you but cannot fault your action. Champions don’t act in haste; they take time to prepare. He who acts in haste sometimes accepts what he should reject, or says no to what he should say yes. Hasty climbers have sudden fall. At times, driving with lesser speed helps us to reach our destination in time. “More haste less speed”, is an old adage. But let not this doctrine of taking time to prepare be an excuse for idleness. The date of any man’s death started to count from the day he was born. So achieve the much you can while you may.
Planning is not optional but obligatory. Excellence is a product of planning. The slow movement of a cat when it sees a prey is not weakness or fear but a calculated accuracy. In all of a wise man’s doings, there is a purpose. Everything is planned. He is economical – he wastes no effort. He accomplishes as much as possible with as little as possible.
Every physical structure requires planning to be in place. In war, strategy is more important than military might. You may have all the materials required for a building project but it takes planning to put up the building. Have a plan for yourself and build according to plan. Both Noah and Moses in building the Ark and the Tabernacle were warned to build according to pattern. The warning is also for you. Find the design (destiny) and build accordingly. Real courage is to carry out a right plan in the hour of danger in accordance with the original plan.
Know that becoming a master takes time. So do not be in a hurry in this project of becoming what you should be. Act as a man of thought. Pray and use your gumption. It is brain work that makes things work. At the root of every achievement is the use of the brain. But it is unfortunate that while some people task their brain, others trash it. Thinking is the way to generate viable ideas. Cerebration leads to celebration. When one stops thinking, he starts stinking and sinking. The greatest business in this life is thinking; as a wise man put it. If the thought is wrong, the action must be wrong. If the thought is great so will be the achievement. Every achievement, great or small was once a thought in someone’s mind. Always act as a man of great thought and think as a man of great action. It takes planning, preparation and action, rather than waiting, wondering and wishing to accomplish any goal in life. Plan well, plan big enough. The cap fits you.
BELIEVE IT, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
