We were told that the overcomer shall sit on the throne. Who doesn’t want to sit on success throne in this life? But note that before you become, you must overcome. You must overcome these present hurdles in your way to success. Have you a dream? Pursue it with tenacity and assiduity. Ask those who went before you and they will tell you that nothing good comes easy. They will tell you that it is a tradition that: every time you ask the Almighty for a throne, He will set a Goliath before you. If you kill the Goliath, you will get to the throne. You must pass your promotion examination to get promoted. Nature does not jump protocol. Since the world began, no meaningful success has ever been achieved without a struggle. A dream that does not include risk is not really worthy of being called a dream. Every great and noble work accomplished seemed impossible at first; but if you throw your heart over the bar (ier) your whole body will follow. If you wake up and find success, you have not been really asleep. Success can never be an accident. It is always desired, planned and pursued. And the harder the struggle, the sweeter the victory. You can’t get the juice out of an orange without squeezing it. If the going is easy, beware, you may be going downhill. A life of cruising without crying is a fraud. If we avoid the way that will lead us to big success because of opposition and travel the easy road of least resistance, we may leave this world undesired. No hassle, no tassel. If you spend your time inside waiting for the storm to be over, you will never enjoy the sunshine. And the ugly effect is scraping by on the bottom rungs of the economic ladder.
The economist would say: “all things being equal”. There will never be a time when all things will be equal, so stop waiting. From Eden till today, there had never been a time when there was no trouble. That you have troubles and problems is a sign that there are great potentials in you, because stones are thrown only at trees with good fruits. One who has no problem is out of the game. “Meet struggles and master it,” says nature and you shall have strength and wisdom sufficient for all your needs. Every delay and every obstacle are opportunities whereby you may become fit and ready for what awaits you when you arrive at your destination. Have patience; All things are difficult before they become easy. If you dodge the pain of beginning, you will prolong your arrival at the success zone. Nature’s way of testing your belief is to make things difficult. Only strong belief will not accept fleeing as an option if the going gets tougher. Any supposed road to success you travel and meet no obstacles, go back, there is danger. It’s success is not genuine.
Maturity is accelerated when we learn to stand firm on our own. I am thankful for all those who said no to me, it is because of them that I have learnt how to do it myself. The strongest trees are not those in heavily protected forests but the trees which stand alone in open spaces where they are in constant struggles with wind and all the elements of life. The “University of suffering” turns out better graduates than any other university in the world. Your many problems show that you are alive and active and will succeed. The door to opportunity swings on the hinges of adversity. Adversity has advantage. One of the biggest enemies of learning and progress is comfort. Hunger, sometimes is a grace from the Creator. It was through it that the prodigal son was able to return to his father from the far country. Without hunger for something, we don’t pursue to get it. People with hunger for improvement in life perform better than the complacent ones. At times we need hunger to push us forward. People climb up easier on empty stomach than a filled one. Motivation means hunger. To motivate is to make one to become hungry for something. Inspiration is the pill that comes from the outside to produce motivation within. In fact, hunger is the best seasoning for food.
Maintain a positive attitude if you want success. We can choose our attitude even though we cannot always choose our circumstances. The choice is either to act as a victim or a victor. Think before you choose. Life is full of choices and choices have their consequences. We are free to make our choices but after we have chosen, the choice controls us. Choose to be and act as a victor. Be wise in choosing your associates. You don’t need everybody to succeed in your career. As the Almighty will send people to help you to succeed, Satan, the devil will also send his own people to destroy you. You may need to avoid contact with the likes of king Herod for you to live and fulfill your assignment or he will kill you as he sought to kill the young King that was born in Bethlehem.
It is not our position but our disposition that determines our destiny. Our attitude determines our altitude. The man who wins may have been counted out several times, but he didn’t hear those illegal referees. It was when Abraham was counted as dead in his body (unproductive), that he began to increase and multiply. When he was weak, then he was made strong. Minding detractors is detrimental to success. Never permit people’s opinion of you to deter you. Instead of wasting your precious time worrying about what people say of you, why not spend the time trying to accomplish something that they will admire. Patience is the force that makes faith productive. It is the hurting seasons that give birth to the healing process. Be wise; opportunities hide behind obstacles. In trying times don’t stop trying. The Creator did His work of creation for six days. At the end of the sixth day, He saw everything that He had made and indeed it was very good. And He rested on the seventh day. He was able to enter into rest because: (1) He worked when He should work, and (2) His works were good.
There remains a rest for you if you will work, and if your works are good. You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality. Stupid is knowing the truth, seeing the truth, but still believing the lies. Either you deal with what is the reality, or you can be sure that the reality is going to deal with you. Avoid indocile and indolent youths of this generation. Self vandalization is deceitfully sweet. Know the difference between enjoying your youth and destroying your future. Use your youthful strength to do good works so that you can enter into your rest at your old age. Also know that only those who do good works here will have rest hereafter, for it is written” “There is no peace (rest) for the wicked”, those who do bad works. I admonish you to “Labour to enter into rest. You see, it is labour before rest. There is dignity in labour. It is a divine assignment. “Six days you shall labour and do work”. No man needs sympathy because he has to work or has a burden to carry. The best price that life offers is the chance to work hard at a work worth doing. In all labour there is profit but idle chatter leads to poverty. And sometimes lack of money can be the root of many evils. Poverty engenders moral duplicity. Let nothing be wasted: money, time, might, etc. Convert the waste into wealth.
Money becomes evil if the love of it drives you to do wrong things to make it. Made the right way, it is a convenience. The poor man is hated even by his own neighbours. All the brothers of the poor hate him, how much more do his friends go far from him; he may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him. All should find something to do that will be beneficial to themselves and helpful to others. Prostitution starts when you feel you are too beautiful to labour; as hunger starts when you think you are too high to do a menial job. The main difference between a menial and non menial job is in the mind. It is what you call your dog that it answers. Everyone is on essential duty. If you cannot do something worth writing, write something worth doing. Don’t be a product of your circumstances, be a product of your decisions.
Let me here re-emphasize getting knowledge as the way forward. The height any man can get to in life depends on the amount of knowledge he has. Getting more right knowledge and applying them is progress. Ignorance is the worst enemy of mankind. It gives the demons efficiency over our lives. They operate through our ignorance. Through knowledge the just shall be delivered. Ignorance gives satan the ladder to climb. But through knowledge we gain freedom, for it is written: “you shall know the truth and the truth, (which you know) shall set you free.” Knowledge helps us to do the right thing in the right time and in the right way and to get the right desired result. There is an appropriate time for everything. Only those who can discern the time grab victory. Doing a thing at its time and season is the formula for fruitfulness.
